I Feel Bad for Guys

For as long as I can remember, I wanted to be a boy. I grew up having all boy friends. I was the little girl who tagged along with all the boys, pretending I was just like them. For so long I really did want nothing more than to be a boy. They could always run faster, jump higher, get dirtier, and of course make those awesome "machine gun" noises that I could never make.

It wasn't until I went to the Matisyahu concert in Salt Lake this week, that I really started appreciating being a girl. The event that sparked this reaction of girl-gratefulness started when we were in the middle of the crowd, listening to Matisyahu do his thing. (He rocked by the way). To my left was a cute couple. The girl asked if she could get on his shoulders.

Of course he had to say yes.

I couldn't help but watch this couple, The girl was having all the fun: she could see everything and move and sway freely to the music.

The guy on the other hand was not.

The poor dude looked miserable. He was sweating and trying to hard just to stand there for her. He was doing everything he could keep this girl having fun, at the expense of his own concert experience.

What a stud.

Anyways, this made me grateful to be a girl. :)

Pet Peeves

My good friend Gabriel is giving me crap for not updating my blog, so “Gabriel” this one is for you.

Tonight I am working the night shift, and I have a little more downtime than usual.  Working at a hotel, I deal with people a lot.  All sorts of people.  I have been working here since May, and let me tell you I deal with a lot more than I get paid for.  So working with some crazy people tonight made me decide I wanted to write a post about my pet peeves.  So here they are.

1. WHINERS. No matter how bright the sun is shining, how wonderful the day is going, how fun the ride is, how nice the hotel is, how good the food is, how funny the joke is….you get the point….they seem to find SOMETHING wrong with EVERYTHING.  I honestly believe that will spend a great deal of time laying in bed at night planning out what they will complain about tomorrow.

Next…

2.Brown belt, black shoes…and vice versa.

Seriously…  I don’t get it.  Why in the world can guys not understand how important this is to girls, especially me.  It’s such a minor thing and would seriously make a world of difference if they could get it right.  I don’t know why but this truly bothers me.  This is the number one fashion flaw that I canNOT handle.

This guy is a prime example of the fashion-no no guys so commonly make…badbelt

2. Hairballs. Enough said.

3. Cell phone cleavage. Are you serious?  This has got to be the tackiest thing I’ve ever seen in my life. (Yes it even takes the cake on gold chain necklaces, tramp stamps, platform flip-flops, and moochers….)  I have never seen a girl that can pull off the cell phone cleavage look.  I am not sure who made up the idea that the area between a woman’s breasts could be used as some sort of “pocket” but they should be put in jail.  Or fined a ton of money. Or egged. The unfortunate reality is that this is a growing trend.  It started out with money, now it’s cell phones.  Before long I’m afraid it will soon be cats. Yes, this lady carries her kitten in her boobs.  Classy.

Girl Cleavage Kitten 300x262 Womens bras the latest trend in cell phone carriers.

4. Chalk and chalkboards.I hate everything about chalk and chalkboards.  Ever since I can remember, chalk has made me sneeze.  Unbeknownst to them, the best way a teacher could punish me was to ask me to “clap the erasers”.  This was the most awful thing imaginable to me at the time.  I’d walk outside of the classroom, turn my head away, close my eyes, and clap the big long erasers together.  It was AWFUL.  I am a big allergy person and just about everything sets me off sneezing.  Especially chalk dust.  No matter how far I turned my head or how far away I stretched my arms with those erasers, that chalk dust would swallow me.  I’d walk into the classroom humiliated; coughing and sneezing the rest of the day.

It wasn’t just the dust that was awful.  Everyone had that one teacher who would erase the chalk board way too fast.  No matter what, she’d always leave some of the board chalked up.  She’s hurriedly write something, then half-ass erase it, and for the rest of the lesson you couldn’t focus on what she was saying.  All you could do was stare at the poor line that she missed, wishing you could erase the board and make it perfectly clean.  Don’t even get me started on the awful screeching noise a bad piece of chalk or a fingernail would make.  Even the cool maps that rolled up above the chalkboards were awful.  It would either never stay down, or never go up.  I hated those maps. EVERYTHING about chalk and chalkboards is awful, I’m thrilled they have upgraded mostly to whiteboards.

Next one…

5. The roommate who will never take the garbage out. Yup, I’m sure you’re reading this thinking of someone you know that has done this, someone you’ve heard complain about someone doing this, or you’ve done it yourself.  I’m talking about that person that will spend more time trying to perfectly place the napkin on top of the pile (that is now barely balancing a foot higher than the top of the garbage can) so it doesn’t all go tumbling to the ground, than they will taking the actual garbage out!  This is something that has always bugged me and always will.

6. Loud chewing.

7. OCD Facebook status updaters. Don’t get me wrong.  I like to update my status every so-often and tell about the interesting happenings of my life, who doesn’t?  No.  I’m talking about those people who go overboard.

I kid you not, I know a girl who got married Saturday.  She has the “facebook for iPhone application”, and these were the updates she posted ON HER WEDDING DAY.

1.  Getting married today…

2. Today is the day!  Reception tonight!

3. Going to the chapel and we’re gonna get married….

4.  I’m MARRRRRIEEEEEEEEEEEEDDDD.  [like 2 hours after the previous post…umm….are you serious? Was the first thing you did after exiting the temple get out your phone and update your status? Hmm…that’s not weird]

5.  Great reception tonight!  Thanks everyone for coming!

A little much if you ask me…

8.Girls that wear high heels and complain that their feet hurt…OR…IN THE FOLLLOWING PLACES/situations: airports, to school, to any sporting event…especially football. With shorts, floods, sweats, or white pants. At a park or any large grassy area.

9.  Pants that are too tight.  (On guys OR girls)

So there you have it.  That is the run-down of my pet peeves.  Sorry if you are one of these people or do some of these things.  :)

Fireworks…(or should I say….fireWORK)

So I had a great 24th of July in case anyone was wondering.  I was able to go up to Salt Lake and hang out with my family and do some fun stuff.  My friend Chad came with me and we got to see some of his fam too.  So we decided it would be fun to check out the SAWEET totally awesome fireworks that everyone was talking about.  First of all, what has happened to Liberty Park?  I was a little bit scared for my life being down there.  There were so many gangsta ballas down there I couldn’t believe I was in Utah.  Seriously, we saw people with tattoos on their FACES.  Really?  I can understand tattoos and I even think they’re kind of cool sometimes, but not on your FACE.

Yeah it was nuts.

So we walk around all the fun little booths and we bought some cool bracelets and that was fun.  As we walk a little bit farther we see a huge crowd of people gathered.  We head over there to see what’s going on.  (I’m thinking we’ll see some cool break dancers or a magician or something)  Nope.  We see a bunch of people singing in some foreign language and “fake fighting”.  It’s like a type of dance where people move around all slowly and pretend to hit each other.  CRAZY.

So we go to the fireworks.  We were there pretty early because we wanted to get a good spot.  We walk up to this hill by the water, where people are laying out blankets and hanging out.  We find a spot that looks really good, there is nothing in front of us except one tree off to the left.  We figured it would be a good spot.

WRONG.  After waiting for almost two hours, the fireworks begin.  They are RIGHT behind the ONE tree we could see.  We just started laughing at our luck.  The firework show would have been amazing I’m sure, if we we had seen it!  I saw one really good one that happened to go high enough over the tree so that I could see it.  Wonderful.

Anyways, long story short, it was quite the evening.  I learned that the best way to tell if you like a guy is to take him to a scary place for fireworks and miss all of them.  If you can do this and still have fun-you’ve got a winner.

Oh and by the way, as we were leaving-I almost ran over a mom who was pushing her baby in a stroller.  What a wonderful night.

Inception

inception

Inception rocks.

This show is SO TRIPPY.  I went and saw it last night and have not been able to stop thinking about it!  I love movies that leave you hanging and get your mind working.  This show is about dreams within dreams within dreams.  I really would STRONGLY recommend anyone seeing it-it is SO WELL DONE!

Zion’s National Park!

So I went with a few friends to Zion’s National Park yesterday.  It was so much fun and we had such a blast hanging out there.  We hiked Angel’s Landing-FREAKY scary, and also did the Narrows.  The boys I went with were from out of state and had never been there so it was fun to go with them they loved it.  So we went all day yesterday and it was a BLAST.  We hiked all the way up Angel’s Landing and ran out of water at the top.  We were all dying and so tired and hot when we got down that we just jumped in the river!  After that we took a little break then went and hiked for a little bit around the narrows.  I absolutely LOVE this place it makes me SO HAPPY being outside in awesome places with awesome people.  I don’t know how people can go to places like this and not believe there is something great that created all of it!  It was definitely a good day! :)

This is my friend Chad.  He was really scared of heights and when he saw this sign he got really nervous.

These were the nasty switchbacks.  Chad and I are geniuses and decided to run up them.  In 110 degree heat it was the worst idea we had all day.

This is me at the first look out point.  I am standing kind of awkwardly because I hate taking pictures by myself.  I never know how to stand. :)

Pepper Spray and Renaissance Fairs

(This is an example of what kind of people were at the Renaissance Fair)

So I want to start out by apologizing for how lame my blog is. If I was anyone else in the world, I wouldn't read it. It's not very exciting-there are no pictures to look at or links to click on. I don't have cool little recipe ideas or awesome tips on how to decorate your house or yard. I don't have a boyfriend, a husband, kids, or a dog that I can take cute pictures of and show how interesting I am. I just have my thoughts and funny random crap that pops into my head while I sit at a desk at work all day.

So here is one of the funny random things I would like to write about today: Pepper Spray. It is CRAZY. If I was in charge of the world, I would say every citizen needs a permit to carry Pepper Spray. Seriously, this stuff is DANGEROUS.

Since I started working at the hotel and running all the time, I decided it would be a good idea for me to start carrying it around. I just feel safer and a little bit cooler with it. So I went to ACE Hardware the other day and bought myself a cute little pink Pepper-Sprayer, complete with a keychain! I tried putting it on my keys, but it reminded me of the girl with the bulky keychain in Hot Chicks. So I just keep it in the "feminine" pocket in my purse now.

So my friend Trevor came to hang out with me at work last night. We started talking about Pepper Spray and how strong it really is and stuff. I told him about how I have been begging my friend Kev to let me test it out on him. (Just to make sure it really works, of course!) Kev keeps denying my request and I've been pretty mad about it. So being the BIG IDIOT I am, I let Trevor talk me into spraying just one TINY spray at work. I honestly didn't realize how bad it would be! Immediately after spraying it, even though it was a tiny bit and super far from where we were sitting, we started coughing and crying! It was so funny because I started panicking way bad and ran into the front room at work. Trevor is a big strong guy and even he started crying a little bit! After a minute we just started laughing at how stupid we are. Advice for anyone carrying pepper spray: DON'T SPRAY IT UNLESS IT IS ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY!!!
Wow I can't believe some of the things I do sometimes.

So next random weird thing that happened to me. Today I went to the Car Show and Renaissance (sp?) Fair in Cedar City. The hotel I work at had all these freaky Renaissance people dressed up in tights and long dresses and wings and all these weird midevil costumes staying here all week so I decided I had to get to this Renaissance Fair and see what was going on. It's a HUGE deal in Cedar, the whole main street is closed off and the park is full of vendors and crazy people with whips and tights walking around selling and bargaining with each other. This lady had a plastic flower cup in her cleavage for jewelry. Like I said, freaky. So we went to check it out and we felt SO out of place. Everyone was dressed up, cracking whips, pulling handcarts, and talking freakishly to each other. It was definitely an interesting experience and I'm SO HAPPY I went. Oh and I bought some SWEET jewelry for cheap so I was happy! :)

That's all, I just love summer. :)

The Ups and Downs of Summer

So here's the deal. I love summer. It is my favorite time of year. It really is crazy how when the sun comes out I sort of come to life a little bit more. Maybe it's because I'm not waking up at five thirty in the morning to go scrape my car before going to weights in the dead of winter. When it is pitch black outside and all I want to do is go back inside to my warm bed. Or maybe it's because I get to see my family and friends once in a while, instead of spending my weekends, Thanksgivings, and Christmases on basketball trips in random places like: North Dakota, Montana, or Illinois-to name a few. Or maybe it is because I get to go to bed late at night, sleep in late into the afternoon, and chill out by the pool and dive into whatever book I'm reading at the time. Or maybe it is because I have more excuses to eat snow cones and ice cream.
I think it is a combination of all of these.
However, as much as I abso-freakin-lutely love summer, it definitely has its downsides. Here is one of them...

So my friend Dani was visiting this last week because we played in a basketball tournament then reffed games for SUU. We thought it would be a lot of fun to sleep outside under the stars in honor of July. I thought it was going to be awesome-the sound of crickets, the warm summer air, yada yada yada.

Psyche.

I failed to mention my yard is right behind a few fast food restaurants and gas stations. As I tried to fall asleep I was able to hear everything some lady ordered-from her roast beef sandwhich to her curly fries. Apparently she thought either the person taking her order was deaf, or that the machine was broken. Because she had to shout this order so loud, I think the whole street heard what she wanted. So there I am, trying to fall asleep, and as I roll over to get comfortable, I roll right onto a ginormous root. Needless to say, the night wasn't as awesome as I imagined it being.

So I awake the next morning to the blazing hot sun with minimal sleep, knots in my back, and itchy-swollen eyes (I forgot to mention I'm allergic to grass).

Sleeping outside is OVER-RATED.

The End.

ps-I still love summer :)
